Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Garden Centre Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. Do you allow dogs in your garden centres?

A. As much as we are dog lovers here at Whitehall, unfortunately it is just not practical to allow dogs into our centres.  With the farm shops and restaurants at both sites and the amount of families with children, we have had to enforce a no dog policy.  Both garden centres have large overflow car parks with grass areas where dogs are allowed.  Guide dogs are an exception from this rule.  We hope that you understand our policy and hope that this is not too much of an inconvenience.

Q. What are your current opening hours?

A. Our opening hours are often changing by the season at both sites.  Please check our opening hour’s page for the latest up to date trading hours here.

Q. What is the minimum age I can apply for job at your garden centres?

A. We feel that having youth in our employment team is very important.  We would be happy to hear from anyone over the age of 16 wanting to join our growing team.

Q. I want to become a member of your garden club, how do I go about doing this?

A. We have an online facility for joining our garden club.  Simply click on the following link here. Alternatively, you can sign up for our free membership instore at Lacock & Whitchurch.

Q. Do you have customer wheelchairs available at your centres and how easy is your disabled access?

A. We have tried to make both centres as accessible as possible for wheelchair users.  We would like to think all of our customers can access all of our departments with ease.  Please keep in mind that Lacock in particular has some areas that include steep gradients that may require additional help to access.  Customer wheelchairs are available for use at both sites.

Q. Are you able to answer my gardening/plant related questions?  I am really in need of some advice!

A. We will try our very best.  At Whitehall we like a challenge and welcome queries and questions of all types.  Contact us by our online enquiry form here or telephone us on 01249 730 204 at Lacock or 01275 832 296 at Whitchurch. Alternatively, you can visit our plant information centre's at either site.
Q. I want a specific plant, are you able to order it in for me?

A. At Whitehall, we are able to obtain many different species of plants.  Although we may not stock a particular variety at the time of question, we may well be able to obtain it for you.  Please contact us via our online enquiry form here or call us on 01249 730 204 Lacock or 01275 832 296 at Whitchurch for more information.

Q. Is it possible to bring a school/group along to your garden centres?

A. We try our best to accommodate schools and large groups at our garden centres.  To book in a group, please contact us via our online enquiry form here or by telephone on 01249 730 204 and ask for our events/marketing team.

Q. I would like to send a picture of my plant to you by email.  Hopefully you can help and tell me what is wrong with it!

A. Please send all images of plants to enquiries@whitehallgardencentre.co.uk to have your picture professionally diagnosed.

Q. Your website states that the item is currently unavailable, what should I do?

A. The best thing to do in this situation is to get in contact with us.  Unfortunately, it is likely that this particular item is currently out of stock.  If you contact us by email or telephone we will be able to confirm this for you and let you know when the item will be next available.
You can use our online enquiry form here or telephone us direct on 01249 730 127.

Q. I would like to know the stock availability of a particular item, what is the best way to find out?

A. Simply just contact us using our online enquiry form here or telephone us on 01249 730 127.  We will be happy to help you.

Q. Are you able to price match items?

A. We are always trying to be competitive with our prices and are open to price matching.  Before you contact us by email or telephone.  Please ensure that you have the website and company name of the store that you would like us to price match to.  The item must be in stock with a reasonable lead time.

Although we aim to please our customers and try our hardest to fulfil their needs, it sometimes is simply not possible to price match certain items.  For more information, please contact us.

Q. Can I pre order an item that is currently out of stock?

A. Of course you can.  Currently we do not have an automated system online that will allow you to do this, but please contact us by our online enquiry form here or telephone us on 01249 730 127.  We will be happy to help you.
Q. Do you deliver to Ireland and other overseas countries?

A. Unfortunately at present, we cannot offer this service.  This is something that we are looking into and hopefully in the future will be able to offer a solution.  At the moment, it is just not practical with cost of postage usually exceeding the value of goods.  We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.
Q. I have ordered an item online and am wondering where it is, what is the best way to find out?

A. Usually your question can be answered here.  If you are still wondering where your order is, please contact us by our online enquiry form here or telephone us on 01249 730 127.  Remember to have your order number, name and postcode to hand as we will need these details to track your order.
