Garden Centre’s Restaurant voted best in South West

Our staff at a garden centre in Wiltshire are celebrating this week (July 8) after visitors voted our restaurant team the best in the South West for the second year running.

Whitehall Garden Centre at Lacock near Chippenham were presented with a gold award for the Greatest Garden Centre Catering Team in the South West category at the Garden Retailing Awards for Team Success 2009 in Birmingham on Tuesday, June 30.

Mark Self, Marketing Director at our garden centre explained: “We’re very proud of our restaurant team at Whitehall Garden Centre. To have won this award for two years running is a real achievement, particularly as it was voted for by our customers.

“The award reflects how hard our restaurant team work and the high levels of customer service they offer.”

Kitchen Supervisor, Suzanne Webb, Restaurant Supervisor, Samantha Sayers, Chef, Paula Davison and Pastry Chef, Jacqui Cook attended the ceremony on behalf of the family-run, independent garden centre and collected their award from world-famous retired heavyweight boxer, Sir Henry Cooper.

Restaurant Manager, Teresa Longdon, explained: “We’re absolutely delighted with our award. We would particularly like to thank all the customers who voted for us and made such favourable comments about the friendly service they receive at the garden centre.

“The four members of the catering team who represented the garden centre at the awards had a brilliant time.”
