Delivery Terms

Free Delivery: Orders over the value of £500 qualify for free delivery within Mainland UK via the most suitable delivery method available for your area.

Delivery restrictions

We reserve the right to restrict deliveries in certain areas. Please check with customer care if you think your delivery area may have a restriction. This includes the right to withdraw our services to individual customers’ addresses if you are repeatedly unavailable to take delivery of your order or in other exceptional circumstances.

Delivery arrangements

At the point at which you place your order, the full list of delivery options will be shown.

Our deliveries are made by third party carriers. When your order has been despatched, you will receive an email to confirm that your order is on its way. 

For some deliveries including deliveries of furniture and higher value/volume orders and in some deliveries of age restricted products, a signature will be required. If you are out, the delivery driver will attempt delivery to a neighbouring address and if this is not possible, a card will be posted through your letterbox with instructions on how to arrange re-delivery. 

Some standard deliveries do not require a signature. If you are out, the delivery driver may be able to leave your order for you in a safe place, if it is not visible from the road and not exposed to weather conditions which may affect the product or its packaging. If this is not possible, the delivery driver will attempt delivery to a neighbouring address and if this is not possible, a card will be posted through your letterbox with instructions on how to arrange re-delivery. You should keep your delivery note and all packaging and should notify Customer Care immediately if any of the order is missing or damaged. Where the delivery contains age restricted merchandise, the delivery driver may ask for appropriate proof of age identification bearing a photograph, date of birth and a holographic mark if they consider that the recipient does not appear to be over the age of 18. Where the delivery cannot be signed for by a person over the age of 18 or where the delivery driver is not satisfied that the person has been able to provide acceptable proof of age identification then the delivery will not be made and a card will be left with instructions on how to arrange re-delivery. Whitehall Garden Centres does not accept any liability for losses arising from orders being delivered outside of the selected time slot (if any).

Age Restricted items
Age restricted products include (but not limited to): Alcohol, Solvents, knives & fireworks
You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase Age restricted products online and in-store.

Whitehall Garden Centres works in line with the government’s ‘Challenge 25’ policy. Purchase of any of these items in store may be subject to photo ID verification from a colleague.

By purchasing an age restricted item online you are declaring that you are the legal age of 18 years or older. These items must be used appropriately & responsibly.


Handling Time
Standard handling times for products are listed below. During peak periods these handling times can be slightly longer.

Event ticket purchases are delivered electronically and will be sent to the email address given at checkout within 2 hours of purchase. During peak traffic times this can be slightly longer. If no tickets have been received after 6 hours please contact us here

Products ordered online before 1pm will be processed and dispatched the following business day via the delivery method selected at checkout

Gift Cards
Gift Cards ordered before 1pm will be processed for dispatch the following business day unless a faster delivery service has been selected at checkout.


Gift Cards

For orders placed and approved before 1pm we will aim to ship on the same day (during busy periods dispatch times may be longer). Orders placed after 1pm will be dispatched the following business day.

Royal Mail state that they aim to deliver 93% of 1st Class mail the next working day after posting but they are unable to provide a guaranteed service. This delivery can take up to 5 working days. 

For a guaranteed next day delivery Royal Mail recommend Special Delivery.
The cost and features of each shipping option are as follows:

1st Class Signed for Delivery (£2.99)
During peak periods this can take up to 5 working days. There is no compensation but a signature will be requested by Royal Mail as proof of delivery.

Special Delivery (£8.49)
Royal Mail aim to deliver by 1pm the next working day. There is compensation of up to £500 and the package will be tracked and a signature requested by Royal Mail as proof of delivery.

Ordering Process
During the order process you will be provided with details of the delivery methods that are available for your order along with the costs of each method. Please read the information regarding each delivery method as the delivery charges will be different for each method and certain restrictions in the timing of deliveries and compensation will apply.

Please note that if goods are lost in transit you will only be eligible for a replacement under certain circumstances. If you are in any doubt about the level of compensation that applies to each delivery method please carefully review the information displayed on the website before placing your order. You may also contact us and we will provide you with the details of each delivery method and the cover that applies. 

Please note: the selection of the desired delivery method is the sole responsibility of the purchaser and Whitehall Garden Centres accepts no liability in respect of any direct or indirect loss consequential or otherwise if an unsuitable or incorrect delivery method is selected or if the carrier fails to deliver the product according to the agreed schedule whether or not any verbal or written advice was provided.

If you do not receive the products that you have ordered please contact us and we will do our best to assist you in tracing the missing delivery. If the goods are deemed to be lost in transit and the delivery method that you selected provides for compensation Whitehall Garden Centres will provide a replacement and will make a claim to the carrier to recoup the cost of the replacement.


DPD offers the UK Mainland a next day tracked delivery service with in flight options to give a fully customisable delivery service for our customers.

DPD Predict & Follow
If you supplied a mobile number during checkout this will be given to DPD to give you more control over your order and allow for ‘in flight’ options and your predicted 1 hour time slot.

In Flight Options
To maximise choice and convenience DPD offer a number of different options both on delivery day and the night before, allowing customers to take delivery of their goods a way that suits.

Via the DPD website or app you can do the following:

  • Select an alternative delivery date
  • Opt for delivery to a nominated neighbour (if this option is available)
  • Have a parcel left in a specified place
  • Collect your parcel from your local DPD Pickup Shop
  • Upgrade delivery to before 10:30, before 12, afternoon or a Saturday or Sunday

For orders placed and approved before 1pm we will aim to ship on the same day (during busy periods dispatch times may be longer). Orders placed after 1pm will be dispatched the following business day.

DPD will attempt to deliver the next working day (unless otherwise instructed via in flight options). If they cannot deliver due to no one being in or no safe space being designated they will attempt delivery automatically the following working day before holding the item at the local depot.

If uncollected after this time the order will be sent back to us and we will process a refund for the item.

DPD Shipping rates


DHL Parcel UK (Formerly UKMail)
DHL Parcel UK offer a nationwide door to door sensitive express parcel delivery. Items are delivered via their 3-5 day service. Please note that during busy periods this could be slightly longer.


Whitehall Garden Centres (Local Delivery Only)

Local Delivery
Whitehall Garden Centres have their own fleet of vehicles which can deliver your large and bulky 2 man lift items within the local area boundaries. View the list below to see which band your postcode falls into for delivery charge.

Collection from our Lacock store is now available for free and available on certain lines. Simply process your order and select “Collection – Lacock’ and when you receive your ‘ready for collection’ email this can be collected from Customers Services. Allow at least 3 hours from ordering before visiting to collect your item. During peak times this could be slightly longer.
