A small, slow-growing, evergreen shrub with glossy, dark-green leaves on brilliant red stems. It enjoys climbing over rocks and stones and hugging them, as well as growing well over walls.
Any decent, well-drained garden soil in an area with direct sunlight will support its growth. Although it doesn't bloom every year, it occasionally produces pink flowers in the summer and red berries in the fall. The major reason this plant is grown is for its aesthetic appeal.
