The English bluebell is a type of perennial wildflower bulb. It originated in the British Isles and is now found widely in both North America and Europe.
English bluebells are an indication that spring has arrived. Their beautiful blue-violet blooms blossom in mid to late spring and put on a fragrant display for five weeks before falling dormant by early summer. The trumpet-shaped blooms have upturned lips and dangle atop clusters that grow roughly 12 to 18 inches tall and three to eight inches wide. Six petals are added to each flower, and the pollen is creamy white. English bluebells are excellent cut flowers.
