Summary
With a distinctive tangy flavour, rhubarb is a favourite for use in crumbles, tarts and preserves.
Regarded as the earliest maturing variety, Rhubarb 'Timperley Early' is ideal for forcing to provide tender pink sticks as early as February, but it can also be grown unforced in the normal way. Stems are a fleshy red-based pink with a delicious sweet flavour.
Rhubarb is ready to harvest in early spring, when little else is available, making it one of the most prized crops in the vegetable garden.
