Summary

The Scepter'd Isle English Shrub Rose from David Austin Roses is graceful and thriving. This pretty rose bears numerous cupped flowers, each with yellow stamens. They are a lovely light pink, becoming paler on the outer petals, and have a powerful myrrh fragrance. It forms an elegant, upright shrub, its blooms held gracefully above the foliage. The shrub is named from a passage of John of Gaunt's speech, expressing his love for England in Shakespeare's Richard III.

Introduced in 1996, this rose is suitable for all soil types and thrives in partial or full sunlight. Particularly good for bees, it is ideal for brightening up mixed borders or celebrating in rose borders. Versatile, the shrub also does well in pots and containers, for a more mobile splash of colour and scent.

After approximately three years of annual pruning, the Scepter'd Isle will be about 125cm tall and 125cm wide, with a deliciously strong myrrh scent and medium blooms. As a repeat flowerer, this bush will give you fragrant flushes of flowers from late spring to early winter.
